We have decided the best choice for our family is to send our kids to our local Catholic school. It's a costly decision, both in terms of time and money, but it's the right one for us. Our older son is in Kindergarten this year, and we love where he is.
I was thrilled tonight when I opened the homework folder and saw his first school report. It had a "good work" sticker right on the front and was about a topic close to my heart - ponies. I couldn't wait to read it.
Ever since taking his first riding lesson, my son has loved to talk about ponies and horses.
What do ponies look like? (Apparently like a happy potato.)
They have eyes "iss," ears "eers," and legs (good sounding out!)
Where do ponies live?
Ponies live on a farm.
What do ponies eat?
Ponies eat grass.
What do ponies do?
Ponies have babies.
OH NOOOOOOOO. I looked at the drawing and it was of two very happy looking ponies making themselves another pony.
Apparently, after a few years of goats breeding in the yard, my son knows just what ponies do. And he drew a picture of them a-doin' it.
I mean, I guess my son gets bonus points for nailing the proper positioning in his picture? I also appreciate the big smiles on the Mom and Dad ponies; they must be truly enjoying themselves.
Anyway, my son has a sweet Kindergarten teacher in a suburban religious school. I wonder what she thought when she saw that picture.
Too bad I'll never be able to look her in the eye again.
Hey, readers! I appreciate you so much for being here and I’m going to ask a favor. If you like this Substack, there is no better way to help me grow and keep going than to tell some of your friends you like it, and maybe they’ll like it, too! Please pass it along today or any day when you enjoy something in my baby goats, touching grass, and farm-life wisdom.Â
Will at least make explaining the birds and the bees easy. 🤣
